Educational Information and Advising
Obtaining accurate and unbiased information on American education is the first step towards a successful and rewarding educational experience in the United States. IIE provides information and advice on all aspects of education in the U.S., including application and admissions; undergraduate, graduate, and professional education; short-term and summer programs; expenses and financial aid; fields of study; and student visas. Resources at IIE's advising center in Central, Hong Kong include general guidebooks, individual school catalogs (hard copies and on CD-ROM), videotapes, and a variety of electronic resources. Group advising sessions are held regularly, and individual students are welcome to seek in-depth counseling with an advisor.

Since many students interested in American education contact their own school counselors for advice, IIE provides counselors at Hong Kong's secondary schools and tertiary institutions with a bi-monthly Advising Newsletter to ensure that they are in a position to effectively advise students on U.S. educational opportunities. Informational seminars for counselors are also offered periodically, and IIE's advisors are available to give presentations on American education to students at local schools.

IIE distributes the following information on U.S. Study:
Applications and information about entrance examinations such as TOEFL, SSAT, SAT I/SAT II, ITP, TOEIC, GRE, GMAT, CGFNS, USMLE/ECFMG
Basic, general information about the U.S. educational system, application procedures, and admission requirements

Any of IIE's handouts on U.S. education, including advice on choosing schools, applying to schools, and various fields of study


IIE offers free counseling service in the following forms:

IIE's office hours are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday and 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday. We are close on public holidays.
